This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door hardtop was refurbished under previous ownership and was purchased by the current owner’s late uncle in Ohio in 2000. It is powered by a 283ci Super Turbo-Fire V8 paired with a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive and is finished in red over red and black upholstery. Equipment includes 14″ steel wheels with covers, a dual exhaust system, chrome bumpers, back-up lights, a cabin heater, and a split-folding front bench seat.
The car was delivered from the factory in two-tone Matador Red and India Ivory (819D) and was previously refinished. Features include twin wind splits, hooded headlights, back-up lights, a fuel filler concealed above the left taillight, and chrome bumpers and trim. Touch-ups are noted on the front of the hood.
Body-color 14″ steel wheels wear faux knock-off covers and are mounted with 7.50-series Firestone Deluxe Champion whitewall tires. A full-size spare is located in the trunk. Braking is provided by front and rear drums.
The cabin features a split-folding front bench seat upholstered in red vinyl with black cloth inserts, and matching upholstery extends to the rear bench. Interior appointments include a locking glovebox, a cabin heater, floor mats, and vent windows. A tear is seen in the side of the driver’s seat, and the analog clock and AM radio do not work.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 120-mph speedometer flanked by coolant temperature and fuel level gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 18k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership.
The car is equipped with a 283ci Super Turbo-Fire V8 that features a four-barrel carburetor and a dual exhaust system. The voltage regulator was replaced in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
